Boost Your Confidence With This Daily Exercise

Who wouldn’t like more confidence?

Confidence can help you sell better, value your work more and achieve things you want to achieve.

If you do struggle with confidence and need a boost, then this daily exercise created by Brian Tracy that we are going to share in this article might help you!

This technique doesn’t take long to do, but it can be surprisingly effective. You just need to be consistent with this.

Daily exercise to help you boost your confidence

All you need is a pen and a notebook. Set aside each morning five minutes when you know you are not going to be disturbed.

Then spend some time thinking about the goals that you have, and the kind of person that you want to be. Write them roughly five clear and specific goals. They can be related to your freelance business or your life. So for example, your goal might be to be a confident and competent freelancer, or it might be to be earning as twice as much as you are now.

Whatever your goals are, all you have to do is write them this list of goals each and every morning. That’s it. Write them down by hand because that takes longer and it takes more conscious effort.

Always write your goals by hand

Studies have shown that when you write by hand it’s more likely to sink into the deep parts of your brain because of it – and that’s the key to this technique.

Make sure you write your goals in the present tense as if they already happened. So instead of writing “I want to be a confident and competent freelancer”, you will write “I am a confident and competent freelancer”.

Try to use strong, confident words, like “I am…”, “I earn…”, “I do…” while doing this technique.

Once you can remember the goals, make sure you are writing them out each morning without having to look back at what you wrote previously. This again just forces your brain to think a bit more about them each time, instead of simply copying them and pasting them on autopilot.

Why is this exercise so effective?

The idea behind all of this is that the unconscious brain is unable to tell the difference between your visualisations and your current reality. This technique trains the deep parts of your brain to believe that your goals are simply the truth about your life. They are your identity.

So the effectiveness of the technique lies in drilling your goals deep into your subconscious mind and providing a daily reminder that you can orient yourself around.

Keeping these goals on forth of your mind makes it much more likely that you will achieve them – you’ll be much more likely to make decisions based on these outcomes rather than a current situation and current thinking.

Finally, the great thing about this technique is that it doesn’t take too long to do, and it’s a great way to just keep yourself focussed on what you actually want.

So I highly recommend giving it a try, even if you are a little sceptical about the idea like I was too. But, like me, you might be surprised at how effective it is!
